SECRETARY: Henrietta Nairuba Wamala
Once again, we at UNAA have created another opportunity for Uganda's policy makers, US policy makers and many Ugandan and American businesses to dialogue and build lasting business partnerships.
The Ugandan companies here have the capacity to do business with their American counterparts. Uganda is a fast developing country, with a population of about 33 Million, with a growing middle class, very rich in minerals and other natural resources, and the newly discovered oil reserves around the country.
There are about 56,000 American companies doing business in China with a single company of Wal-Mart doing about $18billion turnover annually.
This is among the reasons for the rapid growth and development of China. Uganda has been working hard to develop a favourable business environment in order to attract western companies to bring accelerated economic development. The low levels of US investments in Uganda can be reversed through an increase in development of private-sector and utilization of commercial loans from USA to deserving entrepreneurs in Uganda..
