UNAA Community Entrepreneurship (UCE) is a program that has been created to re-ignite our community entrepreneurial spirit, that "can do" spirit that one possesses as they pursue their journey from Uganda to North America.
That spirit that every immigrant possesses when they decide to leave Ireland, China, Russia, Mexico to a new country in North America. That spirit that levels off or dies down when immigrants start to settle for the convenient and the predictable and start to play it safe. UCE is intended to re-ignite that spirit once again in our community, encourage and help practicing entrepreneurs and realize measurable results.
Awaken the seemly dormant entrepreneurial talents in the community through helping practicing entrepreneurs, discovering new ones and thus increasing the number of entrepreneurs among us.
A community member will have to enlist in the UCE program as a first step. The program participant will then to go through a series of program activities online and offline from start to completion of the program. At the end of the program, the program participant will have a program certificate of completion if they have gone through all the stages in the program and satisfied the requirements of those stages.
The program is paced according to the individuals time and speed of program activity completion. This could take a period of 5 months from enlistment to 10 months which is each stage's program duration.
After a program participant submits initial information and goals they want to achieve, they will be enlisted in a program category depending on their needs.
UNAA administration will avail the participant with the needed resources whether human or technological to achieve their goals. Some of the work involved will be done by the UNAA President or UNAA administration officials. For instance, an entrepreneur may want to be introduced to potential partners in Uganda or United States. Some of the work involved here will be the submission of specific information by the participant into our system for us to assess the seriousness and validity of the venture or business. Once that is done, the rest of the work will be accomplished by the program manager, any other official involved, external experts and program partners.
In this program, technology is a corner stone of doing the work and a means to get the work done. Instruction materials will be disseminated to program members using the latest technology.
Members will be able to participate in program events wherever they are and submit their feedback and questions through the same means. Program members progress will be tracked and assessed and feedback will be promptly given to the participants via online wizards.
In this program, we take advantage of successful academia and business human resources our community has to share knowledge and find solutions to common problems of our community entrepreneurs. We use information technology as a resource to connect and educate the program members through tailored instruction material. We use UNAA's name recognition and resources to connect new entrepreneurs and practicing ones to needed mentors, partners and advisers. Entrepreneurs will also learn how to find and use new information to help their businesses.
