Notice of the Creation of a UNAA Constitution Review Committee
Members of the UNAA Community,

The Board of Directors of the Ugandan North American Association is pleased to announce the creation of a UNAA Constitution Review Committee (CRC). The purpose of this committee is to review the current UNAA constitution with the aim of preparing and presenting recommended amendments to the UNAA membership for ratification at the next UNAA convention in
Washington, DC. This CRC has been tasked as follows.

1. To review the most current UNAA constitution.

2. To review all previously published materials associated with or having other indirect relevance to the constitution (eg. the document created by a CRC that was independently
created by the Immediate Past UNAA President Frank Musisi, a document that was created by a Presidential Advisory Committee that was created by Past President Rosette Serwanga, and others).

3. Reach out and solicit input from all members of the UNAA community (please note that this is essentially all Ugandans in the Diaspora who are friendly to UNAA and not just people
who have attended UNAA conventions in the past) wherever possible. This outreach process can take the form of direct email distributions, electronic discussion groups, town
hall forums, etc.

4. Identify weaknesses in the current UNAA constitution whether in content or wording.

5. Develop appropriate additions (new articles) or revisions to existing articles.

6. Consolidate recommendations in an easily readable and understandable format.

7. Establish a process for ballot during the UNAA convention in Washington DC.

8. Circulate the CRC's proposals and balloting process widely and educate the UNAA community. The hope here is to give the people who will be coming to the convention enough time to read and digest the proposed amendments prior to voting.

9. Lead a discussion forum (currently slated for Saturday at 9 am) on the proposed amendments during the UNAA convention.

10. Schedule and conduct the balloting process on Sunday (9 am - 4 pm) during the UNAA convention.

11. Tabulate the ballots.

12. Present the results during the convention's Formal Sunday Banquet The members of the CRC were very carefully selected with great care being taken to attain tribal, gender, religious, political and geographical diversity. In addition, it was a requirement that all members be UNAA members in good standing. Their names are as follows.

Dr. Sarah Matovu - Georgia
Dr. Muniini Mulera - Canada
Mr. Alexander Zabasaja - New Jersey
Mr. David Mureeba - Texas
Mr. Timothy Gaburungyi - Connecticut
Mr. Michael Kimbugwe - Maryland
Ms. Batenga Nakisozi - Massachusetts
Mr. James Serumaga - Massachusetts
Mr. Abbas Mulubya - Colorado
Mr. Johnson Mujungu - United Kingdom
Ms. Becky Wamala Brown - California
Mr. Ben Abe - Washington State
Fr. John Musaka-Ssebaana - Illinois

Further information about the administrative structure of the CRC, how you can contact members, and how you can participate in this very important review process will be published by the CRC in the near future.

We appeal to all members and friends of UNAA to make your voices heard as we review this document that defines the objectives and structure of this organization.

Sincerely,
Moses R. Wilson, PE
President (2009-2011)
For the Board of Directors of the
Ugandan North American Association
