UNAA is the largest formal association of Ugandans in the Diaspora. The objectives of the organization are to "Promote the Social, Cultural and Economic Development of the Ugandan Community in North America and beyond." The Ugandan Community in North America and Canada numbers over 120,000 individuals. .
BACKGROUND
A constitution was created and adopted for the organization during the 1990 convention in Dallas and subsequently modified as appropriate in subsequent years. However, the 2009-2011 UNAA Board determined that the most current document did not adequately address the changing needs of the organization and, as such, created and empower a Constitutional Review Committee to conduct a complete review of the document. A completely new "revised" constitution was presented to the UNAA membership and adopted during the 2010 UNAA convention in Washington DC with the understanding that it would take full effect following the next general elections to be held at the 2011 UNAA Convention in Denver, Colorado.
